I'll Be Clogging on Valentine's Day 2022

A few weeks after my divorce was final, my older sister said something to me about being single again. I scoffed at that and told her I planned on staying single and wouldn't even think about dating until the 5 year old is in college. Should I survive that long, I will be 58 years old. I told the sister I would then take up clogging, since that seemed to be a great way to meet the old geezers.

Not to mention the cute little short dresses you get to wear.

But on a serious note, I have been told by 12 year old that I am "hyper-vigilant".

Well, duh.

His major complaint is that I watch his karate class because I don't trust the instructor.

He's right, I don't know or trust the instructor at this time, plus something about him gave me the creepy vibes. From now on I will trust my instincts and not suppress them.

During karate class, the parents sit on a bench in the studio where we are able to watch. So I'm not the only parent watching.

I'm just the only parent sending silent "don't touch my kid" vibes toward the Sensi. Ha.

I guess it's going to take some time . . . possibly until 2022.

I can't blame you for being hypervigilant (what a therapist word) and not wanting to jump back into dating. There are a lot of messed-up people out there. Enjoy the clogging! :)

Now I've gotta learn clogging to meet an old geezer? I've been working on my polka. :)

(I'm not sure why so many women think a woman's life is not complete without a man in it, but it seems to be prevalent.)

Take your life as it comes to you! (But always be hypervigilant when it comes to the safety of your kids!)

I am still of the (pro) trust fund
and sperm bank philosophy

even though I have a very nice husband and have been married for over 22 years.

They (men) are just too much mental aggrevation.

Remember when we were all lining up on 'would NEVER get married again' or 'still optimistic' sides on Amazon long ago?

I was going to post something but now after reading the comments, I'm wiping liquid off the computer screen :)

I agree with Vickie!

I have mastered the pretending to read while I'm actually watching like a hawk.

I think you are smart to wait until 2022 to date. It was freaking brutal for me to go through my mom dating, even though I was married with my own family. I can't imagine how tough it would be on little kids.

Scary story that will confirm your watching your son at Karate: My HS/college boyfriend was bigtime into Jujitsu. His instructor did a "neck adjustment" on him--I have no idea why--and it actually tore a blood vessel which later resulted in a STROKE. Brian was 20 years old. He lost part of his peripheral vision. All because some random martial arts instructor did something stupid. You're smart to watch him. And you're a good mama.

I remember getting to the age where I craved my mother's attention but hated it when she gave it to me. It sounds like your son's at that kind of an age. ;)

You are so right to trust your instincts. Our local news channel just did a story on a program that teaches parents what signs to look for in a molester. They also quoted a statistic that shocked me: 90% of molesters are someone the family knows and trusts. NINETY PERCENT!!! Now I'm looking at everyone through a slightly suspicious lens, but hey you do what you gotta do to protect your kids, right?
